Small ,with rather long tail in adults a touch of red at base of bill. rather attenuated crake, shaped more like small Water Rail. Usually seen singly.
Sexes differ in that the male is blue grey below and the female grey white with a hint of blue/grey on head, wings show long primary projection.

Reduced Chance (RC) May see it , bird may be transient at sites, low in numbers , may be seasonal, and a little luck is required.
Only seen on the Eskikoy canal route in August and September. At this time of year the canal has a fair bit of vegetation on the surface which the Crake walks along. Sightings have been when stood still waiting and watching for other birds and the Crake has come walking along. Appeared not to be too skittish
